Distribution International offers perlite insulation solutions for cryogenic and high-temperature applications requiring lightweight, non-corrosive, and moisture-resistant materials. Perlite protects pipes and equipment while delivering excellent thermal performance and long-term reliability in demanding environments.

Overall Performance: Perlite provides effective thermal insulation across extreme temperature ranges. It offers sound-dampening properties, performs well in both hot and cold applications, and resists water absorption even at high temperatures, making it a reliable choice in variable conditions.

Physical Characteristics: Also known as vermiculite insulation, perlite is a naturally occurring volcanic glass that expands when heated. The expanded form is an inorganic, lightweight material with a typical density of 2 to 15 pounds per cubic foot. It does not burn, does not support flame spread or smoke development, and maintains dimensional stability across temperature cycles.

Temperature Range: Perlite insulation operates reliably in extreme temperature environments, from cryogenic service at -450°F (-268°C) to furnace and refractory applications up to 1,800°F (980°C).

Environmentally Safe & Friendly: Perlite is an all-natural, non-toxic, and chemically inert insulation product. It is asbestos-free, mold- and rot-resistant, and poses no known health risks—supporting both worker safety and sustainability goals.

Fabricated Products: Distribution International fabricates perlite insulation in blocks, curved segments, pipe covers, and fittings. Custom sizing and thicknesses are available to meet your project’s requirements, ensuring precision and ease of installation.

Reduced Labor Cost: Pre-fabricated perlite components from DI eliminate the need for in-field fabrication. This saves time on site, reduces waste, and improves overall installation efficiency.

Applications: Perlite insulation is ideal for:

  • Pipe and fitting insulation
  • Tank heads and vessels
  • Cryogenic systems
  • LNG and LPG
  • Food processing and chemical plants
  • Boilers, industrial furnaces, and refractory systems
  • Cement plants, steel mills, and petrochemical facilities
